Ranjan Singh is building HealthHero, Europe’s digital-first provider operating across the UK, Ireland, France, and Germany—now at 4M+ consultations and 30M people covered across ~30 specialties with 4,500 clinicians. The differentiator is execution inside real systems: pair patient experience with clinical and cost efficiency, and scale through models that actually pay. The thesis is steady and system-aware—simplify healthcare and improve lives by earning trust within reimbursement and regulation, not by trying to “disrupt” them.

"Wholesale" changes to the system are typically a recipe for crash and burn.
HealthHero began where adoption was already real—episodic care with a clear reimbursement pathway—to earn credibility before widening scope. Singh’s playbook for leaders is deliberately unglamorous: be patient, innovate within constraints, and avoid “disruption” rhetoric that alienates gatekeepers whose approval determines scale. He points to three blockers that still slow digital health—behavioral friction among patients and clinicians, fragmented reimbursement, and complex regulation—and argues progress follows disciplined market access, clinically credible teams that blend medical and tech talent, and a culture anchored in purpose and resilience. Funding is a means, not the strategy: secure 12–18 months of runway, show a path to payment, and remember that in Europe the user is often not the payer—your model must reflect that reality.
Lessons from Four Markets:
